The Chase — Bespoke Staircase Design
At the heart of this new house, which we designed in full, sits a curved double staircase created to form the grand double-height entrance foyer our clients wanted.
About the project
A Traditional Idea, Reinterpreted
The concept was inspired by the sweeping staircases found in traditional manor houses and stately homes, reinterpreted here with modern materials. We fully detailed and specified every element of the staircase, sourced a fabricator, and oversaw its fabrication and installation.
Floating Along the Wall
Steel supports hidden within the oak treads allow the staircase to cantilever out from the side wall with no other support, so it appears to float upward along the wall. Careful attention to the glazed panels, bolts, oak and stainless steel cover plates brings a simple elegance to the finished piece.
