Our clients were initially unsure what could be done to open up their house and make it more family friendly. After a couple of design conversations, we developed a plan that achieved everything they were hoping for.
About the project
Natural Materials, Considered Light
Using natural materials like stone and timber, we designed a contemporary addition to this regular house. Roof lights and high-level strip windows flood the interior with light, giving the impression that the roof is floating above the walls.
Comfort in Every Season
A deep roof overhang shades the interior from direct sunlight to prevent overheating, and also shelters the veranda so our clients can sit outside even when it's raining.
Opening Up the Interior
Internally, we removed a rear wall and an internal wall to open up the house and link it directly with the extension and the garden to the south.
